Mission To provide evidence based education, support and advocacy for individuals living with mental health challenges and their families. Our Vision That individuals with a mental health condition and their families have the right information, tools, quick access to services and a strong support network to maximize quicker recovery outcomes. Who We Are NAMI Mid-Hudson is the local 501(c)(3) affiliate of NAMI, The National Alliance on Mental Illness. It is the nation’s largest grass-roots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for millions of Americans living with mental illnesses and their loved ones. What We Do We educate the public about mental illness (MI) and increase mental health literacy in our community; to offer resources and support to all whose lives are touched by MI. We advocate at every level to ensure the rights and dignity of those with MI; to offer hope to those families/caregivers and individuals living with MI; to eradicate the stigma surrounding MI. We work to promote research in the science and treatment of MI and to preserve mental wellness in our community. NAMI-MH is active in our community by collaboratively working with other organizations, local businesses, and schools to educate the public and de-stigmatize mental illness. We serve the people of Dutchess and Ulster Counties in NY to: 1. Advocate for and support individuals with mental illnesses, family members and their loved ones. 2. Eradicate stigma. 3. Support research, causes and treatment; and access to services regarding mental illness. 4. Educate the public about mental illnesses. 5. Work to improve public and private support systems for individuals with mental illnesses. 6. Promote and Teach NAMI Free Educational Classes.
